Now in its second edition, this open access book provides a thorough overview of first-generation or First in Family (FiF) students' experiences in higher education. The entire university student life cycle—pre-entry, commencement, progression, and graduation—is covered, drawing from the narratives of students and their families. Particular cohorts—mature students, parents, or caregivers—as well as the disparate experiences of male and female learners—are highlighted. Over 650 FiF students from all Australian states and territories as well as Europe participated in the research, which was derived from three major research projects.
