📌 1. What – Apa Itu Latar Belakang Penelitian?

Latar belakang penelitian adalah bagian awal dari karya ilmiah yang menjelaskan alasan dan konteks mengapa suatu masalah diteliti. Bagian ini berfungsi sebagai pengantar yang membawa pembaca memahami fenomena, urgensi, dan arah penelitian.

Perkembangan teknologi digital telah mengubah cara masyarakat melakukan transaksi keuangan. Salah satu bentuk inovasi finansial yang berkembang pesat adalah dompet digital atau e-wallet. Berdasarkan laporan Bank Indonesia (2023), jumlah transaksi uang elektronik mencapai Rp 456 triliun pada tahun 2022, naik 30% dari tahun sebelumnya. Mahasiswa menjadi salah satu kelompok pengguna aktif, karena e-wallet menawarkan kemudahan dan berbagai promo menarik.

Namun, kemudahan ini juga menimbulkan tantangan. Penelitian oleh Susanti dan Pratama (2021) menemukan bahwa pengguna e-wallet cenderung mengalami peningkatan perilaku konsumtif. Perilaku ini dikhawatirkan berdampak negatif pada pengelolaan keuangan pribadi mahasiswa.

Meski demikian, belum banyak penelitian yang secara khusus menganalisis hubungan antara intensitas penggunaan e-wallet dan perilaku konsumtif mahasiswa di era pasca-pandemi. Oleh karena itu, penting untuk meneliti lebih dalam bagaimana penggunaan e-wallet memengaruhi perilaku konsumtif mahasiswa di Indonesia, sehingga dapat menjadi acuan bagi pengembangan literasi keuangan digital.
